As with liposuction, Dr. Goodnight uses tumescent local anesthesia to perform face lift surgery. This technique involves the injection of a fluid containing lidocaine (which numbs the face) and epinephrine (which helps to reduce bleeding) into the facial skin. Dr. Goodnight then uses the Smartlipo® liposuction cannula to do the initial dissection. He prefers using this device as it seals the blood vessels prior to making the incisions. With the blood vessels sealed, bruising is minimal and healing is rapid.
