Open Your Eyes Up to the Possibilities of Blepharoplasty

Transconjunctival Blepharoplasty

According to the age-old adage, the eyes are the windows to the soul. While that may or may not be true, it is difficult to deny that the eyes are among the most expressive features of the human body. They communicate volumes about a person’s demeanor, emotional state, and overall personality. Yet, for those people whose eyelids are puffy or droopy, the messages being communicated by their eyes may not be entirely accurate.

If your eyelids are causing you to appear angrier, older, or more tired than you actually are, you may be an ideal candidate for blepharoplasty, or eyelid surgery, at our North Haledon, New Jersey practice, the Dr. Goodnight Center for Everlasting Beauty. Eyelid surgery allows patients to draw attention away from the area surrounding their eyes and focus it where it belongs: on the eyes, themselves. As with all of the procedures he performs, Dr. James Goodnight uses the least invasive methods available to produce the best, longest-lasting results possible with eyelid surgery. He can perform the procedure either by itself or in combination with other procedures, such as face lift and rhinoplasty, as part of a more comprehensive facial rejuvenation plan.

Transconjunctival Blepharoplasty

In transconjunctival blepharoplasty, the surgical incision is made in the conjunctiva, or the pink inner part of the eyelid. Making the incision here rather than in the muscle allows for quicker healing, minimal bleeding and bruising, and no visible scar. It is through this incision that excess fat is removed and the skin and muscle are tightened. If you choose to undergo blepharoplasty, Dr. Goodnight will recommend the least invasive method that will provide you the most natural results. The Ellman Surgitron radiosurgical unit seals blood vessels as it cuts precisely through tissues. It also melts excess fat under direct control without causing the patient any discomfort. This outstanding technology allows Dr. Goodnight to perform your blepharoplasty while you are under local anesthesia. The C02 laser or plasma skin regeneration system can also be used to remove the damaged, wrinkled surface layer of the skin to reveal the healthy, fresh, smooth skin underneath.

Subcutaneous Lateral Brow Lift

The C02 laser can also be used to remove excess skin from the upper eyelids. Dr. Goodnight conceals the surgical incision within the natural eyelid crease to ensure the most aesthetically pleasing results possible. In cases in which there is an abundant amount of excess skin hanging below the tail of the brow, and the brows are low, a brow lift is often recommended. The brow can be lifted with the Smartlipo® laser dissecting just beneath the forehead skin. A special stitch pulls the tail and mid-brow to the desire position. Another option is to transfer fat to the area around the eyes to restore youthful volume.

Periorbital Fat Transfer

If you are dissatisfied with the appearance of your eyelids and would like to restore a fresher, more youthful look to the area around your eyes, Dr. Goodnight can help you.
