For men and women alike, a full head of thick, healthy hair can be seen as a symbol of youth and attractiveness. For many years, those who weren’t blessed with such hair had either to live with baldness or turn to such less-than-desirable alternatives as hairpieces or crude “doll’s hair” transplants. Thankfully, however, modern science has progressed to the point that no one has to accept thinning hair as a fact of life. The future of hair transplantation has arrived, and it is available at the North Haledon, New Jersey practice of Dr. James Goodnight. It is our pleasure to introduce the revolutionary NeoGraft® hair transplant system. NeoGraft® takes the follicular unit extraction, or FUE, method of hair transplantation – universally regarded as the most natural-looking and least invasive method of restoring hair – and improves upon it.
The NeoGraft® device automates what was once a time-consuming, extremely delicate manual procedure, ensuring more dependable and precise results. In the hands of a skilled plastic surgeon such as Dr. Goodnight, NeoGraft® hair transplantation is, simply stated, the safest, most effective hair restoration procedure available. If you would like to learn more about how you might benefit from undergoing NeoGraft® hair transplantation, please contact our North Haledon office today.
The Benefits of NeoGraft®
NeoGraft® is the first minimally invasive, automatic hair transplantation system to be approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. This state-of-the-art solution to hair loss: -is the least invasive procedure of its kind -involves no scalpel incision, no sutures, and no linear scar -allows for the treatment of large areas of the scalp in a single session -has the fastest healing time of any surgical hair replacement option, with most patients able to return to the normal activities the day after surgery -reduces the need for additional procedures At the heart of the NeoGraft® procedure is the FUE method of hair transplantation. Most surgeons use the “strip” method of transplanting hair, surgically removing a portion of the scalp from the back of the head and then creating follicular units from this portion. While this method is easier for surgeons to perform and generally less expensive for patients, it is a relatively invasive procedure that results in a visible linear scar at the back of the head. With FUE, however, hair follicles are removed individually from the donor area and placed in the thinning areas on the top of the head. As a result, there is less bleeding and discomfort, fewer complications, and more natural-looking results associated with FUE than with the “strip” method. Unfortunately, this technique is also more difficult to master than the “strip” technique, which is why most surgeons don’t offer FUE. That’s where the NeoGraft® device comes in. The NeoGraft® device fully automates both the extraction and implantation phases of hair transplantation, thereby making it a faster, more effective procedure that no longer relies exclusively on the skill of the surgeon to produce outstanding results.
Are Hair Transplants Permanent?
The transplanted hair will have the same life cycle that it would have had if it had remained in its original location. The crown of the head, which generally serves as the donor area, is less prone to hair loss than the front and top of the head. This means that, for most people, their hair transplants will be permanent. It should be noted, however, that the natural, non-transplanted hair at the front and top of the head may continue to fall out over time.
Natural Hair, Natural-looking Results
Not all hair transplantation procedures are equal. When performed by a skilled surgeon, the “strip” method of hair replacement can yield good results; however, scarring is inevitable. The linear scar at the back of the head can be concealed with longer hair, but will become readily apparent if the patient chooses to wear his or her hair short. With FUE, patients can style their hair however they please, and there will be no signs of the surgical procedure they underwent. The new hair will blend seamlessly with the surrounding hair, appearing natural, vibrant, and healthy.
